From Isotope Tagging to Precision Detection

How Lunarion® Makes It Possible

Mass cytometry uses stable metal isotopes to tag antibodies, replacing traditional fluorophores and eliminating issues like spectral overlap and autofluorescence. In the Lunarion® system, each cell passes through an inductively coupled plasma (ICP), where the metal tags are ionized and precisely measured by a high-resolution time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer. This allows simultaneous detection of up to 140 parameters per cell with exceptional accuracy and minimal signal spillover. The result is a true high-dimensional fingerprint of every single cell, enabling researchers to deeply profile immune landscapes, identify rare populations, and discover novel biomarkers — all in one efficient assay.
