TBE is provided as white instant granules. Each pack can prepare 1 L of 1× TBE buffer solution, making operation simple and convenient.
The main components of TBE are Tris, boric acid, and EDTA. In 1× TBE buffer, the concentrations are: Tris 89 mM, boric acid 89 mM, and EDTA 2 mM.

TBE is a commonly used nucleic acid electrophoresis buffer in biology, mainly applied in agarose gel electrophoresis of DNA. TBE has strong buffering capacity, giving better separation results for DNA fragments smaller than 1 kb, and is also suitable for long electrophoresis runs.
